IN ORDER TO PLAY UWH AT BELMONT YOU MUST READ THE FOLLOWING VERY IMPORTANT INFO.....

Due to a national policy that has been implemented by Belgravia Health & Leisure Group Pty Ltd, Underwater Hockey has been categorised as a high risk Hypoxic activity and as such special conditions have been placed on our access to the pool.
It is important for our members to acknowledge that this is not a decision by our local pool – and while we may disagree with the findings and or how the national policy is being applied -there is no value in giving any grief to local pool staff.
The AUF on behalf of all the underwater sports affected by the recent policy is in conversation with the Belgravia head office regarding the underlying flawed argument on which the policy is based and the lack of user engagement that has occurred during the implementation.

In the short term we need to simply work around the new restrictions and hopefully soon a sense of sanity will prevail.

The main restrictions we have are:
1) all players must do a safety induction before they can play.
2) All players MUST be members of our federation
3) all sessions must have a non-playing Lifeguard watching the game
4) all players must wear the appropriate sport specific safety equipment

The biggest cost impost of this is the non-playing life guard. Belgravia can provide one – at $30 per hour for a minimum 3 hours.
Fortunately we have been able to access a causal lifeguard at a reduced rate, but to make the impact less substantial we will cut back our pool bookings to 2 nights per week (Tuesday and Thursday). The booking is 6.45pm-8.45pm which we will break into 2*1.00 hour sessions. Shortly the committee and clubs will meet to allocate the sessions to different user groups. Each session will cost $6.00 per person to cover costs.

For the coming weeks – with likely numbers affected by the Trans-Tasman completion in Tasmania as well as school holidays we have booked the following sessions:

SAFETY INDUCTIONS WILL NOW BE HELD ON THE FIRST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 6.45PM

Please note – you MUST read the attached Belgravia documents and attend one of the safety inductions BEFORE you can play.
